2026 has just begun and EEYP has been busy!
EEYP hosted the 5th annual Exposing Black History event, celebrated 5 years of EEYP with a huge birthday party, and collaborated with several schools and partners to better serve youth in Fort Bend County. EEYP also hosted the 2nd annual moot court tournament and celebrated the inaugural Distinguished Leaders Awards.

January
Innovative Day
EEYP was invited to present to over 100 students in several schools in Lamar Consolidated ISD for Innovative day. EEYP covered topics like professionalism, resume building, and networking. It was a great opportunity to meet with students and share EEYP upcoming events and information.
February
Ridge Point High School Black Student Union’s African American Cultural Fair
EEYP attended the African American Cultural Fair hosted by the Black Student Union at Ridge Point High School. It was a student-led program with performances, delicious food and fun activities.
5th Annual Exposing Black Artistry Event
EEYP hosted the 5th annual Exposing Black Artistry Event in partnership with Missouri City. In partnership with ArtReach, families created beautiful collages using various types of paper. There was also the annual poetry contest, where judges selected 3 finalists. Congratulations to Ebubechukwu for winning 1st place!
FBC Library Black History Month Program
EEYP attended the Black History Month Program hosted by the Fort Bend County Library. There were performances and educational activities families could participate in. EBA poetry winner Ebubechukwu recited his award-winning poem.
March
Leadership Program Closing
EEYP hosted the Leadership Program in 4 schools in Fort Bend County and ended the program with a celebration. Career professionals, like nurses and dentists, met with the students to talk about their careers. It was a great opportunity for students to learn about careers they are interested in and practice their networking skills. Congrats to the students who completed the EEYP Leadership Program!
EEYP Birthday Party
EEYP celebrated 5 years of student enrichment with a fun birthday party. Attendees enjoyed great food and fun activities like the chalk art station, yard games and bounce house. EEYP received a proclamation from the office of State Representative Boris Miles. It was a great day to celebrate 5 years of EEYP!
SAT Boot Camp
EEYP hosts the SAT Boot Camp to help students prepare for the SAT exam every semester. This semester, students were able to receive a free 6 hour tutorial session with an experienced tutor. Good luck to all students taking the SAT this spring!
Youth Career Night
EEYP attended Youth Career Night hosted by Thrive for Youth. There were many organizations that serve Fulshear at the event. The Mayor of Fulshear Don McCoy was also in attendance. It was a great opportunity to meet with families and share EEYP upcoming events.
Spaghetti Cook Off
EEYP and the DA’s Office participated in the 39th annual Spaghetti Fundraising Dinner. There were several agencies that competed including the Sugar Land Police Department and Fort Bend County Sheriff’s office. Our team theme was Pajama Party! The DA’s office didn’t place this year, but we will return stronger next year.
Women’s Leadership Summit
The EEYP team, along with EEYP students, attended the Women’s Leadership Summit “Top 30 Influential Women of Houston” hosted by D-Mars. Dr. Chakilla White, of the Dr. Chakilla White and Judge Lewis White Scholarship, along with many accomplished women presented and spoke on different topics relating to entrepreneurship and success. It was a great opportunity for EEYP students to learn from industry professionals.
April
Buckets and Badges Fundraiser
EEYP hosted the inaugural Buckets and Badges fundraising tournament where law enforcements agencies and first responders around Fort Bend County competed against each other in a friendly game of basketball. The final game came down to the Fulshear Simonton Fire Department and the Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office. It was an intense match, however, the Fulshear Simonton Fire Department came of victorious. Thank you to all agencies who played their best, all proceeds from the event will go towards youth programming.
Seven Lakes Robotics Team Sponsorship
EEYP visited the Robert R. Shaw Center for STEM to award the robotics team a sponsorship for their upcoming competition. EEYP Board members, Henry Dibrell and Michael Milstead, met with the team and learned more about the STEM facility. Good luck to the robotics team!
Investment in Youth Luncheon
The EEYP team attended the Investment in Youth Luncheon. The luncheon awards various scholarships to students of the Youth in Philanthropy organization who have volunteered in the community and show great character. Six EEYP students earned scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Congratulations to all students who earned a scholarship!
Bike Ride Grant Reception
EEYP hosted the Bike Ride Grant Reception to award $20,000 to ten organizations in Fort Bend County that serve youth and survivors of crime.
Crime Victim Rights Week Walk
EEYP attended the Crime Victim Walk that was hosted by the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office. Many local organizations that serve survivors of crime came out in support of the initiative.
Express VS. Space Cowboys
Amaro Law Firm donated tickets for EEYP students to watch the Sugar Land Space Cowboys play against the Round Rock Express. It was a fun event and our students even got to meet Orion!
May
Moot Court
Ten teams competed in this year’s moot court competition to argue a fictional appellate case. The final round came down to Travis High School and Foster High School. Both teams showed great character and arguments. It was incredibly close but Foster High School secured first place. Congratulations to the Foster High School team for their win and thank you to all students who competed.
Chakilla White and Judge Lewis White Scholarship
EEYP received over 150 applications for the Chakilla White and Judge Lewis White Scholarship, where winners would receive $2,000 towards their higher education. Twelve high school seniors were selected from schools around Fort Bend County. Congratulations to the scholarship recipients!
Distinguished Leaders Award
Seven students who demonstrated academic excellence and leadership were nominated by their school admin and won the inaugural District Attorney Brian M. Middleton’s Distinguished Leaders Award. A dinner was held in their honor to celebrate their achievements. Congratulations to the award recipients!
